Weatherman Walking

When the Weatherman went walking in Blaenafon

This is an abridged version of the radio programme played on BBC Wales in October (the BBC took out all the background music for copyright reasons) The programmes presenter, Derek Brockway, has been walking around Wales since 2002 and in this episode of the 5th series, Fiona Ford, a Countryside Access Officer for Torfaen, acted as a guest guide and took him on sections of two of the 7 leafleted walks found in the "Blaenafon Walks Pack". Blaenafon is not an area that is immediately thought of as walking country, but Derek was more than pleasantly surprised at the variety of scenery available on the many walks in the area. On the way round, we stopped at Big Pit for a cup of tea and Derek found time to have a chat with two of the tour guides. If you have enjoyed the programme, give the Countryside section a call for a free selection of walks leaflets, or look on the www.visitblaenavon.co.uk| website for free downloadable copies of the walks.
