Pre-Apprenticeship Learning
Pre-Apprenticeship Learning (PAL) is a programme designed for employed learners that allows them to undertake Basic Skills development before committing to a Foundation or Modern Apprenticeship programme.
Learners have the opportunity to undertake:

Certificate in Adult Literacy at entry level 1, 2 or 3

Certificate in Adult Numeracy at entry level 1, 2 or 3

Communication Key Skill level 1

Application of Number Key Skill level 1

A NVQ at level 1 in their chosen occupational area
There is no age limit to accessing this qualification but all learners need to be employed in the occupational area in which they are chosing to study.
When applying for PAL, all applicants are required to complete Basic Skills Assessments in both Literacy and Numeracy.
