Modern Apprenticeships (MAs)
MAs are also frameworks designed by industry to produce competent employees to meet the real needs of their industry sector. An apprentice will be working towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 3 and potentially Level 4. The learner will also be studying for an added qualification called a Technical Certificate that is designed to cement the underpinning knowledge of their related field, plus Key Skills such as Working with Others, Communications, Problem Solving and IT.
Learners studying at NVQ Level 3 and 4 have either previously completed an NVQ at Level 2 or have sufficient occupational competence and responsibility in their work environment to undertake the qualification.
The Modern Apprenticeship framework usually lasts between 18 months and 2 years depending on your own rate of progress and the route followed.
Modern Apprenticeships are designed to encourage Lifelong Learning and can be started at any time of the year. Modern Apprenticeships are a real opportunity for businesses to attract able people with the potential to become a real asset to their organisation.
When applying for a MA, all applicants are required to complete Basic Skills Assessments in both Literacy and Numeracy.
