Education Welfare Service
The Education Welfare Service assists schools to ensure regular attendance and monitors the employment of children to ensure their safety. If you have any concerns about any of the above issues contact the Council.

We serve roughly 8,900 school meals a day and new standards mean we have reduced fat, sugar and salt in our recipes and increased fruit and vegetable consumption, contributing significantly to our young people’s healthy diet.

The Admissions Team is responsible for the allocation of primary and secondary school places at local authority schools. Parents who wish their child to attend a particular school can express their choice by contacting the Council.

Torfaen Council provides free transport to Schools and Colleges for children and young people who meet the Councils eligibility criteria. Further information regarding entitlement and application forms are available here.
