Statutory Testing and Inspections

A Forward Planning function is to ensure compliance of all educational premises with statutory testing regimes.

Certain maintenance and servicing works are required by statute. Failure to carry out and keep records of these works at the specified time intervals can lead to prosecution but more importantly could allow unsafe conditions to arise.

The Team work with Neighbourhood Services to ensure that all necessary inspection, service and/or testing is carried out and written reports and/or certificates provided in accordance with statutory requirements and approved codes of practices at regular service intervals.

The elements of building maintenance covered by statute include for example:

  • Boilers and heating plant
  • Gas Appliances
  • Portable Appliance Testing
  • Fixed Electrical Wiring Installation
  • Water Quality Sampling
  • Portable Fire Fighting Equipment
  • Fire Alarms
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Lightning Conductors
  • Fume Cupboards
  • Fans
  • Playground/PE Equipment
