Playgroups & Cylchoedd Meithrin
Playgroups and Cylchoedd Meithrin can admit children from the age of 2 ½ years on a sessional basis of not more than four hours in any one day. They provide learning experiences through structured play in groups with the involvement of parents. Most playgroups are run by a committee of parents with paid members of staff.
Both English and Welsh playgroups operate within Torfaen. The Cylchoedd Meithrin offers pre-school experiences through the medium of Welsh although you do not have to speak the language yourself. All children are welcome. A fee will be charged for your child to attend the playgroups.

Some playgroups and Cylchoedd Meithrin are able to offer part-time nursery education, funded by the Local Education Authority from the term after a childs 4th birthday.
