Parent & Toddler Groups
Parent and Toddler Groups primarily cater for children under 2 ½ years of age. Children have the opportunity to play and learn together whilst parents can form friendships and gain mutual support.

Opportunity Groups and Respite Care for Children with Special Needs
Opportunity Groups are similar to Parent and Toddler groups but are primarily for children with special needs. They allow the parents to meet and support each other while their children play. If you have concerns regarding your child’s development you can contact the Health Visitor attached to your GP Surgery, or discuss the problem with your childcare provider.

TOGS offer a range of information services, learning opportunities, parent support, childcare and respite care.

Special Needs Referral Scheme – Wales Pre School Playgroups Association
The scheme is jointly funded by the Local Authority’s Social Services Department and Wales PPA and offers the opportunity for children over 2½ years old who have a special need to attend and receive maximum benefit from their local playgroup or Cylch Meithrin.
The scheme employs a co-ordinator who accepts referrals from various sources including parents, social workers, health visitors, therapist and playgroups.
The co-ordinator will discuss the needs of the child and family, suggest an appropriate local playgroup and arrange a visit. All provision is subject to available funding. For more information telephone 01495 760909.
Stepping Stones Opportunity Group
Stepping Stones Opportunity Group meets weekly at Llanyrafon Sports and Social Club, Cwmbran and aims to give support and advice to parents. It provides a safe and caring environment to stimulate children 0-5 with special needs through play with activities suited to their age and needs. For more information telephone 01495 760909.
