Bookstart

Torfaen Libraries operate a Bookstart scheme liaising with Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust to provide every baby with a bag containing 2 board books, a placemat and an invitation to join the library. This pack is given to the parent/carer at the baby’s 9 month medical check and a second bookstart/early years pack is available for every 2 year old.

 

Torfaen Libraries’ services for the under 5’s also includes:

• Weekly under 5’s story times
• Story sessions for reception classes, nurseries, playgroups and toddler groups
• Loans to childminders, playgroups and Sure Start projects.
• Parent collections – books and information on childcare, health, education and much more.
