How to become a Provider
As a school or other organisation you will probably already have a range of activities that children can attend out of school hours and most of these could be included as Children's University modules.
Examples of organisations that could be involved:
-
Youth groups
-
Schools
-
Libraries
-
Sports Clubs
-
Dance and Theatre Groups
-
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
-
Scouts/Guides
-
Church groups
-
St John’s Ambulance/Red Cross
-
Other charitable organisations
Any activity that the child/young person takes part in outside of school learning hours could count, whether they attend on a weekly basis, as part of a summer scheme or as a one off session. If your organisation is unsure whether they can include a particular activity then please contact the Torfaen Children’s University.
Schools or organisations who have their Out Of School Hours Learning (OOSHL) programme accredited under the scheme go through the following process:
-
the school or organisation contacts Torfaen Children’s University
-
a CU representative attends a briefing session and a guidance pack is given out with a poster, information letters for parents and the appropriate documentation
-
the school or organisation sends Module Proposal forms to the CU for validation (support can be provided)
-
the school or organisation delivers the module
-
the credits are banked under each student's record
-
Torfaen Children’s University informs the students of their total number of credits via a bi-annual credit statement and notifies them of any pending award
-
the student will receive invitations for a presentation evening to receive their certificates
