Modules

Modules are described as units of learning, with specific learning outcomes.   Credits are awarded for the young people’s attendance of a module/s. Since the launch of the Torfaen Children’s University in May 2005, over 300 modules have been registered. Your organisation may be able to offer activities that qualify as CU modules, but remember, modules need to take place out of school hours to qualify.

Listed below are some examples of the modules on offer in Torfaen:
  • Arts and Crafts Club – Pontnewydd Primary
  • Computer Club – Oakfield Primary
  • Cooking skills – Fairwater Junior
  • Expedition Skills – Duke of Edinburgh’s Open Award Centre
  • Gardening – Learning Zone
  • Junior dance, drama & singing – NIDAS theatre
