Strategic Director for Children and Young People

The Strategic Director for Children and Young People is Mike de Val.

 

Mike is the designated lead Director under the terms of the Childrens Act with responsibility for:

• Promoting collaboration across agencies in the interests of improved outcomes for children and young people

• Ensuring the production of the Single Children's Plan

Other key areas of responsibility include:

• Ensuring that the rights of children and young people are recognised and respected and that their voice is listened to

   

• Protecting vulnerable children and young people and ensuring that they have opportunities to maximise their potential

   

• Maximising the potential of young people to make a full contribution to the life of their communities and to succeed in the employment market

   

• Developing schools as a focus for community activities and as a base for a wide range of multi-agency service delivery

   

• Promoting and developing equalities
