The Planning and Public Protection Service Mission Statement is as follows:
"Working in the interests and in partnership with the whole community, to protect and enhance the health, wealth and environment of Torfaen"
The main aims and objectives of the Service Area are:
Planning - The Planning grouping is responsible for ensuring the entire County Borough is covered by an up-to-date development plan, which is consistent with the principles of sustainable development, planning and building legislation.

Public Protection - The Public Protection Grouping looks to maintain Torfaen as a healthy and safe environment to live and work in by carrying out a range of functions through Environmental Health and Trading Standards including:

Weights and Measures

Licensing (Taxi, Public Entertainment, Theatre, Alcohol, Lottery, Street Collections and the New Gambling Act etc.

Food Health and Safety Enforcement
