Customer Centres & Telephone Contact Centre

New Customer Centres are now answering all your queries about the Council and its services. In Cwmbran Town Centre, the Centre is next to the Post Office, and in Pontypool, you can get all the help you need in the Civic Centre. We have also opened offices in Trevethin and Blaenavon. Trevethin office is on Church Avenue – in the old Area Housing Office, Blaenavon office is in Lyon Court – opposite the library.

Both Centres and the Trevethin and the Blaenavon One Stop Shops offer a quick and easy help-desk area where friendly staff can help you find out about anything from abandoned cars to disabled parking badges. If your question can’t be answered, then staff will put you in touch with the correct department. Interview rooms ensure that your query can be dealt with in private if you want. A cash desk means that you can pay your Rent or Council Tax or even set up a simple direct debit.

The Centres are also used by agencies including the Inland Revenue, Age Concern, Shelter, The Pension Service and Citizens Advice Bureau. Regular displays are put up so you can pick up useful information about other local groups and services. (Unfortunately these agencies are not available in Trevethin or Blaenavon).

There is now a service available in the Pontypool, Cwmbran and Trevethin Customer Care Centres where members of the public are able to speak face to face with both the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Trading Standards via a video link. Advisors in Citizens Advice can deal with a wide range of problems such as housing issues, benefit entitlements, debt, relationships, consumer issues and employment while Trading Standards will answer questions on your legal rights when buying goods, to help you complain about faulty goods bought, etc. This service does not require an appointment just call into Pontypool or Cwmbran Customer Care Centres and the receptionists in these offices will be happy to help.

For anyone who prefers to speak to the Council over the telephone, the new Call Torfaen services aims to answer queries in one easy telephone call. Call Torfaen’s number is 01495 762200 and is also the Council’s out-of-hours emergency number. Call Torfaen is open from 8.00 am – 6.00 pm (Monday – Friday)
