Electoral Annual Canvass
The Electoral Register is a list of the people who are registered to vote in Torfaen. To be able to vote in local and national elections and referendums you will need to be on the Electoral Register.
Torfaen are currently carrying out the annual canvass of the residents of Torfaen in which the council send out Electoral Registration forms for residents to fill in. Please ensure you complete your form and return immediately. This saves the council sending forms and saves money.
Remember, if there are no amendments to your details you can either confirm the details by using the freephone telephone number or the internet address which you will find on your form.
If you have mislaid your form, you can download a Register of Electors form| here. Fill it in, sign it and return it to the Electoral Services Section.
You can register to vote if you are:

16 or over (but you cannot vote until you are 18)

A British, Irish Republic or Commonwealth citizen

A citizen of a European Union country living in the UK.
Details obtained in the annual canvass will be printed in the electoral register which is produced on 1 December. If you move during the year you can re-register – keep your vote active.
