Visioning to formulate a work programme

Each scrutiny committee is required to produce and publish a planned programme of work to cover a period of the municipal year (i.e. May 2006 to May 2007). This will schedule issues and reports over the course of the year and will usually reflect the Executive Forward Plan. The Risk Assessment will remain central to the work programme to ensure that scrutiny activity is focussed on issues that are organisationally significant. It will also reflect Scrutiny’s role in performance monitoring, policy development and investigate scrutiny. The new Work Programmes are developed following the Visioning Sessions at the June / July cycle of meetings.

 

Chief Officers and Strategic Directors will have the opportunity to discuss in detail any scrutiny related issues with Members at the Visioning Sessions.

 

All Scrutiny Committees meet on at least a 6 weekly basis to consider issues and reports. Additional meeting and joint meetings may be held to consider cross-cutting issues or issues which may impact upon one or more Scrutiny Committee.
