Fundraising concert for Young People's Music and Arts Trust

Torfaen Young People’s Music and Arts Trust’s annual fundraising concert will be held on Saturday, February 4 in Pontypool Active Living Centre.

Starting at 7pm, this year’s event will entertain guests with performances from the Greater Gwent Intermediate Brass Band, Torfaen Music Centre Senior Wind Band, The Torfaen Music Centre Senior Guitar Ensemble, The NIDUS Children’s Choir and the Bryn Davies Quartet.

The Torfaen Young People’s Music and Arts Trust was originally set up by Councillor Collette Thomas when she was Mayor in 2001/02. By providing grants to young people, the Music and Arts Trust helps to cultivate and develop the artistic skills of young people in Torfaen. It does this by providing small grants to young people in Torfaen. To that end, the Trust is primarily reliant on funds obtained in the form of donations and on finances raised through its annual concert.

Councillor Phillip Seabourne, Mayor of Torfaen County Borough Council and current Chair of the Trust said:

"This is an admirable cause. All funds raised through the concert are invested in the very talented and very many, aspiring young artists and performers that we have here in Torfaen. "Last year, with support from local contributors and monies received through the fundraising efforts of last year’s concert, the Trust was able to offer financial support to young people who had been selected to attend music courses, dance schools and performing arts programmes that often require high participation fees.

"Please give generously to continue supporting the talented youth of Torfaen."

Anyone interested in attending the concert can purchase tickets on the night – tickets are only £5 per person and all proceeds go to the trust grant fund.

The Torfaen Young Peoples’ Music & Arts Trust Annual Fundraising concert is organised by the Trustees with support from the Gwent Music Support Service and Torfaen County Borough Council Arts Development Team.
