The first-ever Cwmbran Festival gets under way next week.
A series of community-organised events will be held throughout August, as part of the inaugural festival that has been set up to replace Cwmbran Carnival.
The deputy leader of Torfaen council, councillor Lewis Jones, explained: "The new concept aims to bring Cwmbran's communities together to create a line-up of activities to help create the perfect summer feel-good vibe on residents' doorsteps.
"Traditionally, the carnival was held in June; however, Cwmbran Festival will be held in during August and feature family-friendly entertainment.
"It is the festival committee's intention to support community groups to help them deliver events that they would wish to see in their neighbourhoods."

Councillor Jones added: "Depending on the take up and success of this year's festival concept support may be offered to local groups again next year.
"However, the possibility of alternative large scale events is also being considered as a possibility to replace the gap left by the carnival."
