A Cwmbran farm is the latest business to benefit from the Branching Out Fund.
Pentre Bach Farms was awarded a grant to help it purchase a mobile saw mill and related safety clothing and equipment.
It received the grant through the Torfaen Rural Development Plan (RDP) - a project delivered through a strategic partnership and a local action group, creaTe.
Local farmers, businesses and community groups can apply to creaTe for grants up to £5,000 to help develop enterprise through diversification activities.
Owner Steve Warman said: "The mill has allowed us to add value to the waste timber from the woodland management carried out at the farm. We can now also provide a service to other local farmers and businesses to turn their wood into added value timber products for use or resale.
"This helps promote sustainability, by reducing the farm's carbon footprint and encouraging woodland management."
The RDP has received funding through the Rural Development Plan for Wales which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
