Lucky pupils presented with laptops

A group of lucky Torfaen pupils who won laptops in an exclusive competition run by Torfaen council and leading national wholesale distributor Westcoast have been presented with their prizes.

To enter the competition, the pupils had to answer - how do you think technology will change Torfaen's schools during the next ten years? The successful entrants were presented with their new state-of-the-art laptops recently at a special ceremony in the 21st century teacher development zone at County Hall. The laptops were donated free of charge by Westcoast.

The executive member for children and young people, councillor Mary Barnett, said: "We are very proud that Torfaen is leading the way in Wales in technology rich-learning. Many of our local schools feature some of the world's most cutting edge and innovative classroom technology and now these pupils can enjoy similar technology from the comfort of their living rooms. Well done all!"

Westcoast managing director Lee Hemani said: "The standard of entries was superb and a credit to all the pupils who took part in the competition. We were delighted to donate the prizes and I hope the laptops provide the pupils with many hours of entertainment."
