The Household Waste Recycling Centre in New Inn is officially a safe pair of hands after gaining a leading safety accolade.
Torfaen Council's waste management contractor, Viridor, which runs the site, has been awarded the prestigious health and safety gold award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Councillor John Cunningham, Executive Member for Operational Services, said: "This is an excellent achievement and I'm delighted the site has been recognised for its ongoing commitment to health, safety and welfare of staff and visitors to the site."
Paul Smith, Viridor's manager in Torfaen, added: "Our site staff and lorry drivers work hard to keep our customers safe in often very challenging circumstances - I am proud of my team for winning this award which demonstrates our commitment to safety"
The Household Waste Recycling Centre provides facilities for the disposal of a range of recyclable materials and waste. These facilities are free of charge to all Torfaen residents for general household and garden waste.
If people visit the site with a van or trailer they must obtain a free van permit.
