Torfaen Council is urging residents to green up their spring clean up by reusing or recycling unwanted household items.
During a clean up, residents can put newspapers and magazines, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, tins, cans, aerosols, and textiles in their black recycling box.
Other items including unwanted clothes and household items can be taken to charity shops.
If old furniture is in good condition contact Circulate Furniture Recycling in Blaenavon who may be able to remove it for free. Call 01495 793187.
Torfaen Council's waste manager Cynon Edwards said: "Spring is the classic time of year for sorting through household clutter.
"However, in a bid to create more space at home, a large proportion of unwanted household items, such as furniture, gifts, gadgets and clothing, are often unnecessarily thrown out with household rubbish instead of being reused or recycled."
The Council is the best performing recycling authority in South Wales- recycling 42 per cent of its waste.
