One in a million binman achieves customer service first

A Torfaen Council binman has been described as one in a million after becoming the first refuse man in the UK to achieve a top customer service accolade.

Bryan Moylan has become a Practitioner Member of the Institute of Customer Service after continuously proving, though assessment, that he provides a top notch service for residents.

This success comes after he was one of the first refuse men in Torfaen to successfully complete the Institute of Customer Service professional award.

"I'm delighted to become the first refuse man to achieve this, "said Bryan, who has been driving refuse vehicles for four years.

"I am determined to strive for high standards to ensure I understand residents' needs."

Local residents have heaped praised on the 41 -year-old, who is now studying for an NVQ in team leading and is mentoring colleagues to help them achieve similar success.

Mike Harris, of Church Road, Pontnewydd, said: "All the refuse men in Torfaen do a fantastic job and Bryan is one in a million."

Councillor John Cunningham, Executive Member for Operational Services, said: "I would like to congratulate Bryan for this remarkable first.

"By achieving this, he has demonstrated a high level of excellent customer service and has met tough professional standards.

"This is just one example of how hard officers on the frontline work to meet the needs of local residents."
