Refuse and recycling collections

Refuse and recycling collections in Torfaen have been rescheduled due to disruption caused by the snow and the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Residents due to have their refuse (black) bin collected yesterday (Monday 21 December) will now have their bin collected on Monday 28 December. This collection will replace the normal green bin collection; however, green waste will be collected if essential. Recycling boxes due for collection yesterday (Monday 21 December) will also be collected on Monday 28 December.

The properties affected by the alterations above (Blaenavon down to Pontnewynydd) will also be able to put out an additional two bags of side waste on 28 December and 4 January.

All other Torfaen households will be able to put out an additional two bags of side waste for their collections during the week of 4 January.

The council aims to pick up any of today’s (Tuesday 22 December) missed collections tomorrow (Wednesday 23 December), while the rest of this week’s collections should be completed as normal, subject to the weather.

There will be no collections on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The Christmas Day (Friday) collections will take place on Sunday December 27, while the New Year’s Day (Friday) collections will take place on Saturday 2 January.

The Household Waste Recycling Centre in New Inn is open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, Monday-Saturday from 7.30am-6pm, and 9am-6pm on Sundays.
