Torfaen residents are being offered nets to help contain recyclables in their black boxes.
After listening to residents' concerns, Torfaen County Borough Council is offering nets to help stop recyclables blowing out.
They are tied to one of the box handles and pulled over the top. During collections, they are then simply pulled back over and left hanging.
A successful six-week trial in Kidwelly Road, Cwmbran, has been completed with the majority of residents involved praising the idea.
Heather Ward, who lives along the road, said: "I think the nets are a great idea because they stop things like plastics and paper blowing down the road.
"It's nice to hear that the council is offering them because they will help to keep the place tidy."
Every resident in Torfaen is being offered one net free of charge.
Nets will be delivered to residents in Blaenavon, Abersychan, Pontnewynydd and Snatchwood when the final stage of twin bin is rolled out early next year. The remaining residents will have to request a net, which will then be delivered to them, by phoning 01495 766608.
Glyn Leonard, who sorts recyclables at the kerbside for Torfaen's recycling company, Cleanstream, was also pleased with the nets.
"They have made a massive difference," he said. "Not only do they contain the recyclables but they are also easy to work with as well."
Councillor John Cunningham, Executive Member for Operational Services, said he was pleased to offer the nets.
"We have been assessing the best way of containing recyclables after listening to residents' concerns," he said. "It has been a very thorough process and we believe nets are the best way of containing recyclables."
The Council is the best recycling authority in South Wales- recycling 42 per cent of waste.
Newspapers and magazines, aerosols, tins and cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars and textiles can be put out for recycling in the black box. Recyclables can be put in the box loose apart from textiles which must be bagged.
