Torfaen County Borough Council is supporting a campaign to help reduce the 350,000 tonnes of food we throw away in Wales every year.
The new Waste Awareness Wales' campaign, 'love food hate waste', is supported by well-known chefs such as Ken Hom and aims to show just how much of our food waste could be used rather than thrown away.
Torfaen Council's Waste Manager Cynon Edwards said: "We throw out a third of the food we buy in Wales, costing us an incredible £400 million every year. We can all do our bit to reduce the amount of food we throw out - planning meals in advance to use up food in order of shelf-life dates, using leftovers in another meal rather than binning them or composting suitable waste food can greatly reduce the amount we waste - and save us some money as well."
If you have any food waste left after following these tips put it in your green wheelie bin if you are on the Twin Bin scheme or use a compost bin.
