Street cleansing is carried out on a fortnightly basis in this ward, the carriageways are mechanically swept once a month and all local shopping centres are cleansed on a daily basis, refuse collection takes place on a Thursday

Unemployment (2004)

 

Whilst unemployment in the area has declined significantly, 77 people remain registered unemployed, 49 males and 28 females (July 2004). Of the 77 claimants, 30 are under 24 years of age and 5 are registered as long term unemployed (unemployed for over 52 weeks).

Upper Cwmbran has a lower proportion of owner occupied households at 56.7% than Torfaen (68.3%) (Wales 71.3%). 33.3% of properties are rented from the local authority (Torfaen 22.8%, Wales 13.7%)

29.9% of households in Upper Cwmbran do not own a car (Torfaen 27.2%, Wales 26.0%).
