Footpaths - Community Update

30 April 2010

On 16th April, the legal order| diverting footpath No 9 was confirmed.  The proposal to divert the footpath was advertised on the site and within the local papers and no objections were received.  The drawing| attached to the order shows the original footpath and the new footpath.

CADW has provided written agreement to share the cost of diverting the footpath that currently cuts through the Ironworks and across the Quinns pitch. The footpath, No 9, will be legally diverted to follow the route that has become common and practice over many years. Consultation on the diversion will be advertised shortly.

An application has been submitted to the Countryside Officer to legally divert the footpath on the Quinns pitch to follow what has become the custom and practice route for the community. CADW has agreed to share the cost of this diversion as part of the path, which has long been obstructed by a fence and gate, runs through the ironworks. Statutory consultation will be undertaken by the Countryside Officer with the necessary groups and public notices posted.

29 February 2008

We met with the Countryside Officer to talk about the need to legally divert a footpath that currently cuts across the football pitch at the Harlequins. The current legal footpath runs through the Iron Works (and is obstructed by a security fence), across the pitch, around the back of the trees, down the slope through the old cricket ground and out onto the road. The actual footpath, that is, the one that most people use, goes past the garages, along the side of the football pitch, down the bank and along the edge of the old cricket ground. The plan is to legally divert the footpath and therefore make legal the commonly used route. Consultation will be undertaken on this in due course.
