Housing Benefit & Council Tax Benefit
The Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit scheme is run by local councils on behalf of the Government.
What is Housing Benefit?
This benefit helps council tenants and private tenants pay their rent. Depending on your income, capital and family circumstances we can pay up to 100% of your rent. It is sometimes called rent rebate or rent allowance.
What is Council Tax Benefit?
This benefit helps people who pay Council Tax to pay their bill. Depending on your income, capital and family circumstances, you can get up to 100% off your Council Tax bill.
Second Adult Rebate is Council Tax Benefit for people who may not have a partner but who may share their home with someone who is over 18 and does not pay them rent. It is based on the income and circumstances of the people who live with you.
Making a claim for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit
Claiming benefit may seem complicated so we have made it easier.
You can now make a claim by phoning us on 01495 742377. We will need your name, address and contact phone number. We will then arrange to complete the claim with you either by personal interview or over the telephone.
