08/03/2011 - Community Resilience Resources & Tools

 

The Cabinet Office have produced a series of online resources to support community resilience. To find out more visit the community resilience| page for more information. 

 

11/02/2011 - Exercise Watermark

 

Defra, with the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), will conduct a national emergency flooding exercise in March 2011. It will test the arrangements across England and Wales to respond to severe, wide-area flooding.

 

The exercise will test the country's preparedness while also testing a number of other key recommendations from the Pitt Review and other recent flood reviews.

03/03/2010 - Exercise Ursula

 

Officers from Torfaen County Borough Council were involved in an exercise organised by RAB Consultants in conjunction with the Environment Agency Wales. The main objectives of the exercise were to test the recovery arrangements following a major flooding scenario in the Gwent LRF area.

 

February 2010 - The Big Freeze

 

Some of the worst weather to hit the UK since 1981 brought Arctic conditions to Torfaen, with snow and ice creating treacherous driving conditions, forcing schools to close and disrupting refuse and recycling collections. 28/04/09 - Swine Flu

 

Following the outbreak of Swine Flu in Mexico and the subsequent cases now confirmed in other countries around the world, including the UK, Governments and Health Agencies are escalating their response.

23/04/09 - Exercise Taliesin

 

Torfaen County Borough Council was involved in planning and taking part in a major exercise held across Wales on 23 April 2009 which focused on local preparations for a flu pandemic.
